Mission

The Young Alumni Leadership Council (YALC) is the primary volunteer leadership group for alumni of the 10 most recent undergraduate classes at UNC. The Council works with Carolina Annual Giving to educate peers and encourage annual financial support of all Carolina schools, units, and programs by engaging young alumni in the process of philanthropic giving. Our goal is to develop a foundation of donors who will support Carolina and help maintain its position as one of the nation’s leading, globally-eminent public universities. The Council, re-established in 2012, is modeled after the University’s Board of Visitors, serves as a pipeline to introduce young alumni with engagement opportunities across campus, and advocates for the interests of recent graduates to the university.

Become a Member

The Council exists to cultivate and enhance the important connection between Carolina and its recent graduates. YALC members serve a three-year term with opportunities to serve in leadership positions. They help Carolina Annual Giving promote a culture of philanthropic giving and build positive relationships with the university’s youngest donors and alumni. Members are expected to support the University philanthropically at the respective Chancellor’s Club level as well as encourage fellow young alumni to join them in supporting Carolina each fiscal year. Members are also expected to attend both council meetings in Chapel Hill (or virtually) each year, serve as a virtual volunteer for GiveUNC, and act as an advocate for Carolina.

The YALC selects new members through a nomination process. If you or someone you know would be interested in serving on the Young Alumni Leadership Council, please fill out the Nomination Form or the YALC Staff Liaison at youngalumni@unc.edu.
