Students: Tomorrow’s Leaders
Students are the lifeblood of the University, and UNC’s donor programs are dedicated to supporting the academic excellence we have all come to know and expect at Carolina. When alumni and friends invest in Carolina, they also invest in our students. In turn, our students take great pride in their University, and invest in its current and future excellence by giving during their time at Carolina.
UNC’s student programs are a function of the Annual Giving Department and focus on educating students about the importance of private giving at Carolina. Our initiatives encourage students to get involved in the life of the University and to develop a habit of giving back to their alma mater. Contributions support scholarships, professorships, facilities, technology, student organizations, the arts and much more to make Carolina the top-ranked center for learning that it is.
Why?
Tuition and state funding provide less than half of Carolina’s annual operating revenue. The University must rely heavily on private gifts to maintain the quality of its academic programs, student services and athletics programs. Carolina would be challenged to achieve its national prominence in academics and athletics if not for ongoing private support.
